How Schiphol Airport elevated the passenger experience

The challenge: Meeting high demand for charging with limited infrastructure

At Schiphol Airport, teams identified a high demand for phone charging, particularly in Hall B. However, the availability of charging options, including power sockets, was insufficient to meet all expectations. This shortage had a negative impact on passenger satisfaction and the overall airport experience.

Inge Lubbers, Passenger Experience Lead at Schiphol Airport, explains: ‘We have been conducting a pilot test with OneFlash since July 2024. We have six S24 stations in Hall B, and passengers who have borrowed an external battery are very satisfied with them.’

The solution: A reliable partnership and ongoing collaboration

To resolve this issue, the airport launched a 12-month trial with OneFlash, installing six stations with 24 batteries in Hall B. The choice of OneFlash was motivated by the quality of service, but also by close collaboration. The collaboration with our contact, Noah, is very good. He is easy to reach, quick to respond, and, step by step, we are improving the service for our passengers.

Although the service is not yet perfect, the teams at Schiphol are working closely with OneFlash to continuously improve it. For Inge Lubbers, ‘the good thing is that we are working with OneFlash to improve the passenger experience and generate even more enthusiasm among passengers’.

The results: Promising engagement indicators

After eight months of experimentation, the initial results are promising and speak for themselves:

  • Average uses : Over 4 000 users per month.
  • Average use time : 45 minutes.
  • Users NPS : 4,51/5.

These figures demonstrate the relevance of the service for passengers, and the satisfaction survey confirms its positive impact. 87% of respondents recommend the service as an improvement to the passenger experience.

In light of these results, Schiphol Airport is already planning a second phase of deployment, with the installation of 10 additional stations. For Inge Lubbers, the conclusion is clear: ‘We are convinced and we are going to scale up. This is a very good thing.’
